CFBIU Appoints Randy Spiegel as new CEO

The Canadian Friends of Bar-Ilan University (CFBIU) is pleased to announce the appointment of their new CEO, Randy Spiegel. Randy will head up the Canadian operation, joining a global resource development team under the leadership of Dr. Sharon Goldman, VP of Development for Bar-Ilan University and the Canadian Board of Directors, chaired by Harold Spring. “Randy’s extensive leadership experience in numerous Jewish not-for-profit organizations, combined with his thoughtful leadership style and success in the field of development, position him well for the CFBIU CEO role,” noted Spring.
Bar-Ilan is Israel’s fastest growing university, ranked among the top universities in the world. Its emphasis on multi-disciplinary and impact-based research, combined with its continued incorporation of Jewish values and Zionism, situates Bar-Ilan in a critical and unique space within Israel’s academia.
As CEO for the Canadian operation, Randy brings a successful track record raising millions of dollars for charitable activities, as well as working with hundreds of volunteers and community leaders. “This position is a tremendous opportunity to help grow an organization dedicated to providing outstanding education and research opportunities for both emerging and established scholars dedicated to having a positive impact on Israel and the world,” stated Spiegel.
Randy, who holds Masters degrees in Jewish Communal Service and Management of Human Services, joins CFBIU after a very successful eleven years as Executive Director of Beth Tzedec Congregation, North America’s largest conservative congregation, prior to which he served for eight and a half years as Executive Director of Zareinu Educational Centre, (now known as Kayla’s Children Centre).
